Exporting your library
Download your whole library — every original in its folder, a metadata file per photo and your account data — at any time, on any plan.
You can take everything with you at any time: every plan, Free included, whether or not you are over your storage, and whether or not a payment is late. An export is a copy — nothing in your library changes.
Start an export
- Open your account and go to Privacy & GDPR.
- In Export your library, click Export my library (Start a new export when the last one is still there to download).
The export is put together in the background, and a big library can take a while: the card counts the photos as they go, and you can leave the page. We email you when it is ready, and the same card then has a Download button — one per part, Part 1 of 3 and so on, for a large library.
What you get
One or more zip files — a large library is split into parts of about 2 GB, each of which opens on its own:
- Your originals, byte for byte as you uploaded them — RAW files stay RAW — in the same folders as in your library, the photos in Unfiled at the top. Each is named as it is in your library; two with the same name in one folder become
IMG_0001.CR3andIMG_0001 (2).CR3. - A metadata file for each photo, next to it with
.jsonadded (IMG_0001.CR3.json): the camera's record, the place, the analysis, the albums it is in and its other details in the library. - A manifest (
manifest.json, in the last part) listing every file with its size, checksum and the part it is in, so you can check the copy is complete. - Your account data (
account.json): your profile, plan and payments, your folders, your albums with their order and captions, your share links with their settings, views and hearts, and your account's activity.
Photos in the trash are not included. Because the originals are copied exactly, a photo's GPS position is in the export if it was in the file you uploaded.
Good to know
- The files stay downloadable for 7 days after the export is ready; after that, start a new one.
- You can start up to three exports a day.
- Only you can download them: each download link is made for you when you click it.
If you are leaving, export first — deleting your account (on the same page) removes your photos for good.

Trash
Deleted photos wait in the trash for 30 days, where you can restore them. They count toward your storage until the trash is emptied.
Albums
An album is what you share: photos you pick from anywhere, or a whole folder with its subfolders, in your order. A photo can be in several albums.
