Getting started
From sign-up to your first share link: upload a shoot, find photos in it, and send it — or only your picks — to family or clients as an album.
Media Moana is a home for your camera photos. You upload a shoot, the files are kept exactly as they came off the card, you find any photo by what is in it or by how you took it, and you share the whole shoot, or only the photos you pick, as an album with one link — the people you send it to need no account and no app.
This page takes you from signing up to your first share link. Each step links to the page that covers it in full.
1. Sign up
Sign up with Google, GitHub or a sign-in link sent to your email. No card is needed: the Free plan has 10 GB of storage for your originals, which is room for a RAW shoot. See Pricing for Pro and Studio.
2. Upload a shoot
A new library opens on the upload panel: Choose Files, Choose Folder, or drop them onto the page — RAW, HEIC, JPEG and the other supported formats, up to 250 MB a file.
Photos land in the folder you have open. Upload the shoot's folder and it comes in as a folder of its own, its subfolders with it; or create one first — New folder beside Folders on the left — and upload the files into it. One folder per shoot also makes sharing simple later. More in Uploading photos.
3. Find what you need
Type what you remember into the search box — a place, an object, the words on a sign — or click Filters beside it to narrow by camera, lens, exposure, date taken or place. The view switch in the toolbar also has a map, the grid lays your photos out month by month by date taken, and Similar photos on the left groups bursts and look-alike shots so you can keep the best of each. More in Searching your library.
4. Share it
What you share is an album. To send the whole shoot, click ⋯ beside the folder's name in the sidebar (or right-click it) and choose New album from folder…, then Create — the album holds the folder's photos and those of the folders inside it. The album opens on a preview of what the people you send it to will see; its Share tab has the link, which starts as a draft only you can open. When it looks right, click Publish link and send the link. Whoever opens it sees the photos in their browser, and can download them as one zip.
To send only some of them, select them — in the folder, or in what a search found — and choose Add to album… to put them in an album of their own; then share that album the same way. A photo can be in as many albums as you like, and nothing is moved or copied. More in Albums.
Either way, location is left out unless you choose to keep it; you can let only the people you add open it, add an expiry date or a password, or turn the link off at any time. More in Sharing an album.
The album can open as a gallery, a slideshow, a story in chapters or a contact sheet, and whoever opens it can print it or save it as a PDF — see Templates, slideshow and print. Back in your library, the album shows how often the link was opened and which photos people loved — see Visitors, views and hearts.
