Story
The album reads like an article.
Choose Story for an album you share, and the photos are laid out as one long page in chapters — a new one where the day or the place changes, or where hours pass between shots, or as you choose. Your description opens it; your captions become its quotes.
3 looks
Essay — the default
A magazine page on a twelve-column grid. Each chapter opens on a photo across the whole screen, then single photos beside their margin notes — the photo's number, its place and its settings, as far as you show them — two side by side and offset, or three in a row; an upright photo's caption beside it. It ends on one line: how many photographs, from which days, taken with which cameras.
Itinerary
The album as a journey. The route runs under the title, a stop for each chapter; then a line down the page with a stop at each one — its day and date beside it, its place as its heading — and a small mark where the photos move on to another place. A day without photos is a dashed stretch of the line, with its date. With places hidden, the stops go by the day alone.
Book
A photo book in two-page spreads: the title page, the contents facing the cover, a page for each chapter facing its first photo, then a photo a page, a captioned photo facing its words, and page numbers at the foot. On a phone the spreads become single pages.
What visitors get
- Chapters
- By default a new one on another day, in another city, or after more than a few hours between shots — or one a day, or the whole album as one.
- Headings
- Like “Day 2 · Kyoto” — the day and the place, as far as you show them to visitors.
- Contents
- A list of the chapters under the title, each a link to it, if you turn it on.
- Openings
- Each chapter starts on one photo of its own, its first highlight when it has one.
- Photos
- In the album's order but for each chapter's opening photo, every one whole — nothing is cropped to fit.
- Words
- The album's description as the introduction, and your captions as quotes beside their photos.
- Motion
- In the Essay and the Itinerary photos rise gently into place as the page scrolls; on a device set to reduce motion, nothing moves.
